Grace Potter and the Nocturnals - http://www.gracepotter.com/

Cibo Matto - http://www.wbr.com/cibomatto/

TV SHOWS:

"Off Limits" - on TLC Monday nights at 8pm (Mountain Time). Basically the guy goes to well known cities and shows you things most people have never even heard of.  Nazi Camp in LA, Seattle's Floating Bridges, oh yeah awesome stuff like that.

"Upstairs Downstairs" - On PBS.  If you liked the original Upstairs Downstairs then you are sure to like this new series.  Set before World War II it shows the relationship between upper class and lower class.  Each class struggling with the onset of war, politics, and changes in social structure.  Jean Marsh returns to the series having been cast in the original one.  As a British History student I truly enjoyed this show. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/upstairsdownstairs/index.html

Pod Casts:

Lynchland - SO SO Funny!!!!!! One guy does the entire production by himself and even portrays all the characters himself.  Sort of a pod cast Varity show.

Nothing Wrong With Being Single

Just to let you know, I am updating my blog.  Thanks to my Ninja Friend J  we will be able to provide better Geeky, Indie updates for you as well as some fun new blog ideas we are working on.  Thanks for all those who have faithfully been reading and supporting my blog efforts.  I really do appreciate it and hope that as I continue to blog I will improve and so will the blog in general. Now back to the blog.

Let’s just get this straight there is nothing wrong with being single.  I think in this society we have it in our heads to try to fix people.  For some reason we seem to think that if someone isn’t like us they need help.  Well I’ve got news for you.  I don’t.

I’ve noticed that single people seem to only develop pity from others.  Well we don’t need your pity.  I am perfectly happy being single and I have a complete and full life thanks to my relationship with my heavenly Father and to my loving friends and family.  Sure it would be nice to get hitched one day but I’m in no hurry right now.  When it happens it will happen and if it doesn’t it doesn’t and that’s fine with me.  Sure there are single adults out there whose whole goal in life is to get married.  However, you cannot except marriage to fix your problem of loneliness.  Married people can be lonely too.  Putting all your hopes and dreams onto one person isn’t fair to that person nor to yourself.  Have faith in yourself first.

Single people get no respect.  For some reason if you are married you are considered an adult.   Hmmm that is strange considering that I know some married people that are just about as mature as a 9 year old child.  Maturity does not come through marriage no one can make you mature.  Maturity comes from learning to have faith, work hard, and treat others with respect along with many other traits.  If I am not considered an adult now when will I be?  Does my job and my bachelor’s degree not count as being an adult?   Does the fact that I still pay bills, get myself to work, and take care of my household not count as an adult life?

Stop trying to fix people.  It’s not just single people who get picked on, divorced people, and married people who do not have children.  If you do not have children people treat you as though you have no idea how to handle children or they will fill sorry for you because you don’t.  Divorced people are considered to be depressed and need to get married again right away when in reality maybe they just need time to heal first.  My advice if you’re so desperate to fix something fix yourself.  Maybe you have a problem because you are so focused on fixing others your ignoring your own problems.  Just a thought.

Well I think I’m done with my little rant.  I’m not trying to sound anger or upset.  I am very happy and content with my life and this Indie Girl with Geekish ways isn’t worried about getting married. J

A little bit of Indie In The Middle Of The Week

TV Shows:
Season Finale of The Big Bang Theory.  Guess it's time to rewatch the old seasons.
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/big_bang_theory/

Wii Games:
Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4.  AWESOME!!  I really enjoy playing this game with my sister.  You can be any character and switch at any time.  I wasn't sure how much I would like this since I haven't played with Legos for years, but I loved it.  The only thing I would change is the fact you have to have the nunchuck in order to play the game.  Holding both controllers makes it awkward at times.

Pod Casts:
Learn Japanese@Japancast.net This is an easy way to learn a few words in Japanese.  I listen to this every night before going to sleep. http://www.japancast.net/ Also, I have been able to learn about the Japanese Culture in each lesson.  Check out there website it is pretty rockin'.

Potter Cast #227 October 21, 2010 Pundits Play the Name Game.  Discusses the origin of each character's name, and what literature J.K. Rowlings was influenced by.  A great in-depth and educational discussion of the books really enjoyed it.

My amazing ninja friend Brooke took this picture at the Lamar Days Parade last weekend.

My Fortune Cookie Told Me To Do It!

“Be curious always!  For knowledge will not acquire you: you must acquire it.”  So says my fortune cookie.  Most of my fortune cookies have told be I would acquire great wealth, a husband, and my lucky numbers are... This little fortune was different and it really spoke to me; which is why I am blogging about it.

Being curious isn’t a bad thing; the old saying; “curiosity killed the cat” is only partially correct.  Yes, sticking your hand in a pot of boiling water to see what happens; well not so bright.  Being curious about a different culture, other people’s hobbies or how to create something isn’t going to kill you.  I think though, that a lot of people are afraid to try or learn something new.

They can even be afraid to get to know someone.  Maybe they have been hurt in the past by someone, or betrayed so they carry that fear with them and refuse to open up their hearts to other people.  If you don’t get to know other people, then you will not acquire knowledge. Other people are a wealth of knowledge, and you might miss out on some awesome friendships.

It can also be as simple as having no interest in anything other then what you are used to.  For instance, maybe all you care about it sports so you have no other interest in anything that is outside the sports realm.  It can go the opposite way too maybe all you care about is reading or talking philosophy and you refuse to do anything other then read and talk philosophy.  Sometimes to acquire knowledge, you have to learn to do something new.

Also, realize that in order to acquire knowledge you have to do a little work for it.  Just like money doesn’t grow on trees, neither does knowledge. You have to work on it.  You always were curious about learning Japanese well then find a pod cast on how to learn Japanese and do it!  You want to learn to knit? Well grab a DVD on knitting and do it!  Want to learn more about the Indie Culture? Well, grab a book and read about Indie Culture.

So, want to make a new and interesting friend?  Want to learn Japanese well do it!  You can’t learn something new until you work at it.  Now I have this fortune taped to my computer helping to remind me to never stop being curious and to enjoy learning something new; it’s the Indie thing to do! J   Indie Girl out!

Happy Star Wars Day!

So I guess today is an official Star Wars Holiday?  Hmmm I have to admit didn't pay attention.  To be honest if I don't get a day off from work for a holiday I don't care.  However, this is pretty cool and today is the day Lucisfilms releases the Complete Saga on Bluerayhttp://maythe4th.starwars.com/
May The Force Be With You!
